Finisher's Medals
Standard Finisher's Medal - $15
This year we are offering participants the option to purchase a 10 Mile or 5K finisher's medal as well as a "Double Blossom" medal for completing the 5K on Saturday and the 10 Mile on Sunday. These handsome medals on ribbons have a variation of the current year's t-shirt design and the race date. They will be given out at the conclusion of the event at the Medals Tent on the Washington Monument Grounds to all race finishers who have pre-ordered one. Double Blossom medals will be distributed at the end of the 10 Mile. (We are unable to mail medals after the race.) The cost of the basic finisher's medal is $15, for either event or for a Double Blossom medal.
Enhanced Finisher's Medal - $23
We also offer a 10 Mile, 5K or Double Blossom "enhanced finisher's medal" for $8 extra ($23 total) which includes a strip imprinted with your name, time, place overall and place in your age group. You will pick up your medal at packet pick-up or on race day. Your personalized strip will be mailed to you approximately 12-14 weeks after the race if you finished the race. No strips will be mailed to entrants who do not finish either the 10 mile, the 5K or both races if a Double Blossom medal was ordered. Upon receipt, the strip can be applied to the back of the medal.
Carbon Offset
We encourage you to mitigate the impact of your race related transportation by purchasing carbon offsets. A carbon offset represents a reduction in emissions somewhere else - like a renewable energy or a reforestation project - to balance out travel-related emissions.
We will be working with NativeEnergy again this year (www.NativeEnergy.com) to offer a carbon offset option as part of race registration. Native Energy uses contributions to fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including wind farms, solar energy, reforestation, farm methane reduction and much more.
Carbon offsets are available for $5. You can pledge your carbon offset when you register for the lottery.
Race Packet Delivery - $80
We encourage everyone to pick-up their packets on Friday or Saturday at the Health and Fitness Expo at the National Building Museum. For the few individuals for whom picking up packets on Friday or Saturday is not possible, we will send packets out by UPS or USPS approximately 7-10 days before the race for $80. You must enter the race using a street address, not a P.O. Box. Make sure that you will be home (i.e. not travelling to the race) at the time your packet should arrive, approximately 4-6 days before race day.
Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile 2023
Virtual Training - Beginner Program presented by ASICS
This free ten-week email training program, which begins on Monday, January 23, 2023, is designed for the non-runner and those individuals who run only a mile or two and have never run a 5K or 10K race. It is also suitable for those who engage in other aerobic activities such as cycling, rowing, basketball, etc., but who have not done much running. It is based on a walk-run approach and has been used successfully by thousands of participants. It requires persistence and commitment. It is also very strenuous. Every participant should have medical clearance before starting the training program. Non-runners should follow the program as closely as possible. Those who have run in the past should follow the time guidelines but may want to take fewer walking breaks. While there is no guarantee of success, persons who diligently follow the program will increase the likelihood that they will finish the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile successfully within the strict 2 hour and 20 minutes race time limit.
If you have questions as to which program you should follow, contact Coach Kirt West at coach@cherryblossom.org for his recommendation. Coach West will normally get back to you within 24 hours. Questions about specific workouts should be sent to Coach West only after you have reviewed the Frequently Asked Questions as many of the questions have already been addressed.
If you have any technical questions about the virtual training program (problems receiving daily emails, want to change to the intermediate or advanced programs, or want to cancel the program), contact vt@cherryblossom.org.

THE CRITICAL CHOICE is the "Choose Race": This is where you will select the appropriate option for entering the Ten Mile Run or 5K Run-Walk lottery either as an "Individual" or as part of a "Group."
There are six options on the "Choose Race" drop down menu combining the race distance choice and the choice of "Individual," "Start a Group" and "Join a Group."
Individual
"Individual" is the most common option selected. Select "Individual" and the appropriate distance if you don't care to have your selection contingent on the selection of others in a group.
Ten Mile Run - Lottery (Individual): Select this option if you are entering the lottery as an individual and plan to run in the Ten Mile Run.
5K Run-Walk - Lottery (Individual): Select this option if you are entering the lottery as an individual and plan to participate in the 5K Run-Walk.
GROUPS
The "Group" feature allows registration for friends/family (e.g. husband/wife pairs) who only want to run the races if certain other people are allowed to run - this is especially important for Groups that will need to travel together. The lottery will select a Group together: members in a Group are either all in, or all out. Your likelihood of being selected is the same whether you enter the lottery as an individual or as a Group. Groups can have a maximum of 10 members (no exceptions). Please note that "Groups" are for purposes of entering the lottery only. Once the lottery is held, the Groups are moot and will be dissolved. No individuals can be added after the lottery to a group which has been selected. Details about creating Teams to compete in the Team Competition will be sent to accepted lottery applicants after the lottery is concluded.
Note: Groups may contain both Ten Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk members.
Start a Lottery Group
If you are the first person in your Group to register for the lottery, you will choose "Start a Group," which will (on the same form): i) create the Group with the name of your choice, ii) register yourself into the lottery and iii) have you as the first person in your group. At the top of the second screen of the registration form, you will enter the name of your "Group." Then you will continue to enter your personal registration information and you will automatically become the first member of the Group you created. You should make sure that all the prospective members of your Group are given the Group name so they can join it through the "Join a Group" process outlined below.
Ten Mile Run - Lottery (Start a Group): Select this option if you would like to start a "Group," (and are the first person registering in your group) and you are planning to run in the ten mile run.
5K Run-Walk - Lottery (Start a Group): Select this option if you wish to start a "Group" and you are planning to participate in the 5K Run-Walk.
Join a Lottery Group
Select this option if you are joining a Lottery Group that has already been created prior to your entering the lottery. You should already know the name of the Lottery Group you wish to join. On the second screen where you will enter the name of the "Lottery Group" and/or search by the name of someone on the Lottery Group. If the Lottery Group has been created, you will be able to select it and continue with a "Lottery Group Entry Form" which will collect your information and count your registration as part of the Lottery Group. If you can not find your Lottery Group, check with the individual who created the Lottery Group. If it has not been started you can start it yourself by choosing the "Start A Group" routine above.
Ten Mile Run - Lottery (Join a Group): Select this option if you wish to join a group that has already been created and are planning to run in the ten mile run.
5K Run-Walk - Lottery (Join a Group): Select this option if you wish to join a Group that has already been created and you plan to participate in the 5K Run-Walk.
